Press release on the meeting of the General Director of National Defence Policy and International Relations with the Defence Attaché of India

The General Director of National Defence Policy and International Relations, Dr Konstantinos P. Balomenos, on 25 May 2021, welcomed India’s Defence Attaché Colonel Anupam Ashish, at the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, in the framework of the bilateral defence cooperation between Athens and New Delhi.

During the meeting, issues/areas of common interest were discussed and was examined the possibility to further expand their cooperation on military training activities, in particular exercises and operational co-training at bilateral and multilateral level, military academic training and countering hybrid threats.

The two officials also discussed the mutual security and stability challenges faced by each country. In addition, they had the opportunity to exchange views on issues of common interest regarding the European Union and the substantial contribution of the Armed Forces in the management mechanism against the crisis brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the discussion, the strong bonds of friendship between the two countries were confirmed, and emphasis was given on the importance of further deepening the bilateral relations between Greece and India, in the context of regional and international organisations.
