The Directorate of National Defence Policy is responsible for the elaboration and submission of proposals, the monitoring of relevant decisions and, more broadly, the handling of matters pertinent to the National Defence Policy. Furthermore, it is responsible for taking all necessary actions for the implementation of the National Defence Policy, including National Defence Planning at a national and international level, in coordination with the relevant directorates of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff and the General Staffs of the Branches. 

The Director of the National Defence Policy Directorate is Colonel Ioannis STAMOU since 5 February 2025.

The National Defence Policy Directorate consists of the following Sections:

• The National Defence Policy and Strategic Studies Section
• The National Defence Planning Section
• The International Law and Military Agreements Section
