On Tuesday, 21 July 2026, the Director-General of the General Directorate of National Defence Policy and International Relations (GDNDPIR) of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, Ambassador a.h. Michel Spinellis held a meeting with a Delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), headed by the Assistant Undersecretary for Defence Policy and Communications of the UAE, HE Ali Abdullah Al Ahmad. The joint session was conducted under the auspices of security diplomacy and specifically aimed to enhance bilateral defence relations between Greece and the UAE.

The principal thrust of the discussions focused on strengthening strategic military alignment, particularly regarding the implementation modalities of the Letter of Intent on Strategic Defence Cooperation, signed between Greece and the UAE on 18 May 2026.

Following the conclusion of the proceedings, the two officials, acknowledging the excellent level of mutual partnership between both nations, agreed on the need to draw up and establish a coherent framework for collaboration within the scope of their competencies.
