On Tuesday, 22 September 2026, the Director-General of the General Directorate of National Defence Policy and International Relations (GDNDPIR) of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, Ambassador a.h. Michel Spinellis, held bilateral consultations in Berlin with Dr Martin Schäfer, Defence Policy Director at the German Ministry of Defence. These talks were conducted in the broader context of security diplomacy and specifically aimed to further enhance bilateral defence relations between Greece and Germany.

The principal thrust of the discussions focused on strengthening defence relations between the two countries, both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of the European Union and NATO, as well as on cooperation in the field of armaments.

Upon the conclusion of the bilateral consultations, the two Defence Policy Directors acknowledged the importance of dialogue and cooperation between the two countries on defence and security issues and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthen this cooperation, both on a bilateral and multilateral basis.
