On Friday, 20 February 2026, the Director-General of the General Directorate of National Defence Policy and International Relations (GDNDPIR) of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, Ambassador a.h. Michel Spinellis, held bilateral consultations with his Hungarian counterpart, Mr László Hajnik, following an official invitation extended by the Greek side. These talks were conducted under the auspices of defence diplomacy and specifically aimed at enhancing bilateral defence cooperation between Greece and Hungary.
The principal thrust of the discussions focused on the strengthening of defence ties between the two nations, both bilaterally and within the frameworks of the European Union and NATO. Additionally, the security situation and recent geopolitical developments in the Middle East, the Western Balkans, and Ukraine were addressed.
Following the conclusion of the bilateral consultations, the Defence Policy Directors acknowledged the excellent level of defence collaboration between Greece and Hungary.
