On Friday, 30 January 2026, the Director-General of the General Directorate of National Defence Policy and International Relations (GDNDPIR) of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, Ambassador a.h. Michel Spinellis, held bilateral consultations with Ms Joanne Hamer, Director of Euro-Atlantic Security at the UK Ministry of Defence. The meeting was conducted in the context of defence diplomacy, aiming to further strengthen bilateral relations between Greece and the United Kingdom.

During the discussions, key issues were addressed concerning European and Euro-Atlantic security, NATO partnerships, developments in Ukraine, as well as regional security challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Western Balkans.

Following the conclusion of the talks, the Annual Roadmap was signed, as provided for in the framework for the implementation of the Greece–United Kingdom Joint Vision Statement. This document sets out the two countries’ priorities in the field of defence and records the proposed measures in areas of common interest at both the political and operational levels.

The signing of the Roadmap reaffirms the strategic nature of the Greek-UK relationship regarding defence assets, as well as the shared commitment to reinforce security and stability in a complex and challenging international environment.
