The Director-General of the General Directorate of National Defence Policy and International Relations (GDNDPIR) of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, Ambassador a.h. Michel Spinellis, participated in the EU Defence Policy Directors’ Meeting held in Brussels on 27January 2026.

The Summit commenced with a working luncheon attended by the Directors of Defence Policy, Ambassadors to the Political and Security Committee, and the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Ms Radmila Shekerinska, during which the implications of the evolving strategic environment were discussed, focusing on both EU security and defence, and EU–NATO cooperation.

During the second part of the session, European officials shared their perspectives on the current situation and the forthcoming steps concerning military support for Ukraine. The First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Mr Serhii Boiev, participated in the meeting via videoconference, providing the Directors with an update on the situation in the field, along with his country’s most pressing requirements.

The Summit concluded with an exchange of views on the EU’s defence readiness, followed by a detailed briefing for Directors on the progress of the recently launched Military Mobility Package.
