Training seminar on the European Union’s Common Security and Defence Policy

From 07 to 11 June 2021, at the Air Force Academy in Tatoi, the General Directorate for National Defence Policy and International Relations of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, in cooperation with the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), will hold the 16th CSDP High Level Course (HLC) 2020-2021/Module 4 “Jean REY”, on: “The future of Common Foreign Security Policy (CFSP) and Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP)”.

The seminar is attended by senior officials, diplomats, and senior officers from countries of the European Union, holding leadership positions in the European mechanism of Common Foreign Security Policy and Common Security and Defence Policy (CFSP/CSDP).

The aim of the seminar is to train these officials on the effective implementation of the European Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) and crisis management, as well as, the development of multi-actor cooperation capabilities within the framework of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP).

The program of the Seminar includes speeches from prominent personalities from the political, diplomatic and academic fields, the Armed Forces and the Police, both from Greece and various countries of the European Union. In particular, EU Defence and Security experts will develop issues of particular interest, such as international cooperation, the security situation in the Western Balkans, migration, European strategic autonomy, European Security and the factors affecting it, i.e. resilience, climate change and its future.

The seminar’s programme also includes the undertaking of social and cultural activities (hosting of a reception event at the Health Loss Rehabilitation Centre (KAAY) at Agios Andreas, visit and tour of the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio, guided tour and dinner at the Acropolis Museum, etc.) in order to strengthen the relations of mutual understanding and trust between Greek military and diplomats with their European counterparts.
