The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos opened today, 23 of June 2020, the High-Level Meeting on “Transnational Crisis Management”, at the Auditorium of the Air Force Academy, “Lieutenant (AF) N. Sialmas”.
The event was organised by the General Directorate of National Defence Policy and International Relations of the Ministry of National Defence, whose Director, Dr. Konstantinos Balomenos extended a greeting at the opening.
At the kick-off of the meeting were present the Minister for Internal Affairs Panagiotis Theodorikakos, the Minister for Migration and Asylum Panagiotis Mitarakis, the Minister for Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the Minister for Shipping and Island Policy Giannis Plakiotakis, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Constantine Floros, the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Lieutenant General (AF) Georgios Mplioumis, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Vice-Admiral (HN) Stylianos Petrakis, the Head of the Hellenic Police Lieutenant General Michail Karamalakis, the Head of the Hellenic Coast Guard Vice Admiral Theodoros Kliaris and the Secretary-General for Public Diplomacy, Religious and Consular Affairs as representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Konstantinos Alexandris.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide information at interministerial level between the key state officials of the government and the state apparatus involved in the management of a transnational crisis. In addition, the aim of the meeting was to strengthen the common framework for situation awareness and actions and to develop further synergies between the actors responsible for managing any form of transnational crisis in the context of an integrated “whole-of-government” approach.
