On Tuesday 11 January 2022, the General Director of National Defence Policy and International Relations of the Ministry of National Defence Konstantinos Balomenos, held a lecture at the National Defence College (following an official invitation by the Administration of the School), on the subject of National Defence Policy (NDP).
During his lecture, the General Director presented the administrative structure and the responsibilities of the General Directorate for National Defence Policy and International Relations of the Ministry of National Defence and focused on the sections of the National Defence Policy, as well as on the factors affecting it.
In particular, the General Director Dr. Konstantinos Balomenos, referred to the current developments in the international environment, the objectives and principles of National Defence Policy, the assessment of the political and military situation, the basic principles of organisation and operation of the Armed Forces and the national strategic dogma. In addition, the General Director presented the top goals and points of gravity of the National Defence Policy.
Finally, Dr Konstantinos Balomenos referred in detail to the provisions of Law 4622/19 (concerning the Executive State), on the role of the Government Council of National Security in shaping inter-ministerial policies and taking decisions on the country’s security, and also provided information on the process of the National Security Strategy under preparation.
At the end of the lecture, the Commandant of National Defence College, Lieutenant General Themistoklis Grimbiris, after thanking the General Director of National Defence Policy and International Relations, Dr. Konstantinos Balomenos for accepting the invitation and for his timeless academic contribution to the National Defence College (SETHA), presented him with a commemorative plaque.
