Hybrid Threats Response Seminar in the Armed Forces Officers’ Club (LAED)

he Special Warfare Command (SWC) of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff organised a seminar on “Tackling Hybrid Threats”, with the assistance of a NATO Special Operations School (NSOS) mobile training team, from Tuesday 6 to Thursday, July 8, at the Armed Forces Officers’ Club.

In addition to specialised military personnel of all the Armed Forces branches, in the seminar participated representatives of the Security Corps as well as of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Citizens Protection, Digital Governance, Justice, Shipping and Island Policy and the Interior.

The aim of the seminar was to provide understanding for the Hybrid Threats and their main characteristics in a holistic context, address them with the synergy of inter-agency actors, strengthen the spirit of cooperation between stakeholders, and foster a common understanding of the response to modern security threats.

At the beginning of the seminar, the Commander of the Special Warfare Command, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, addressed the seminar and then, the General Director of National Defence Policy and International Relations of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, Dr Konstantinos Balomenos, took the floor. In his presentation, he referred extensively to the national framework for dealing with Hybrid Threats.

Among the distinguished participants was the Commander of NATO Special Operations Headquarters, Brigadier General Rob Stephenson.

During the seminar, all measures foreseen against the spread of COVID-19 were implemented.
