The General Director of National Defence Policy and International Relations (GDNDPIR) of the Ministry of National Defence Dr Konstantinos Balomenos, accepting an invitation from the Israeli Embassy in Greece, held a ceremonial meeting with the Israeli Ambassador Mr Noam Kaatz on Friday 10 March 2023.

The main focus of the discussion was the analysis of the current situation in Greece, as well as the examination of the security environment in the wider Southeastern Mediterranean region, as it is shaped after the latest geopolitical developments from the war in Ukraine.

The excellent bilateral level of Greek-Israeli cooperation was also discussed and ways to strengthen bilateral defence relations between Greece and Israel were explored.

Finally, it was stressed that the strong diplomatic, military and economic axis between Greece and Israel constitues a pillar of stability and security in the wider Mediterranean region.
