The General Director of the General Directorate of National Defence Policy and International Relations of the Ministry of National Defence, Ambassador a.h. Michel Spinellis, in the broader context of defence diplomacy and in particular the strengthening of bilateral defence relations between Greece and Cyprus, held bilateral consultations with his Cypriot counterpart, Lieutenant Colonel Neophytos Neophytou, following an official invitation.
It is the first time that consultations have been held at the level of Defence Policy Directors between Greece and Cyprus.
The main focus of the talks was the deepening of bilateral defence relations between the two countries. In addition, the security situation and regional developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as the Maritime Humanitarian Corridor to Gaza (Amaltheia Project) and other multilateral cooperation schemes of common interest were examined.
Following the conclusion of bilateral consultations, the two Directors of Defence Policy acknowledged the excellent level of defence cooperation between the two countries.
The Cypriot official on the sidelines of the bilateral talks, had the opportunity to speak to the Cypriot Army Academy cadets. In addition, the Commandant of the Hellenic Military Academy, Major General Anastasios Polychronos, guided the two Defence Policy Directors, to the Museum and other important facilities of the Academy.
