The Director-General of the General Directorate of National Defence Policy and International Relations of the Ministry of National Defence, (GDNDPIR) Ambassador a.h. Michel Spinellis, in the broader context of the defence diplomacy and in particular the strengthening of bilateral defence relations between Greece and Portugal, held bilateral consultations with his Portuguese counterpart, Major General Nuno Lemos PIRES, following an official invitation to Athens.

These consultations followed bilateral talks, on Defence Policy Directors level, held in Lisbon on 21 November 2024, between Greece and Portugal.

The main topic of the talks was the deepening of the defence relations between the two countries, both on a bilateral level and within the framework of NATO and the European Union. In addition, the security situation and regional developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East, the Western Balkans, Ukraine and Africa were examined.

Following the conclusion of the bilateral consultations, the two Defence Policy Directors underlined the excellent level of defence cooperation between the two countries.
