The General Director of National Defence Policy and International Relations of the Ministry of National Defence, Dr. Konstantions P. Balomenos, on Monday 21 February 2022, welcomed a delegation of the National Council for the Development and Competitiveness of the Supply Chain to exchange views on improving the functionality of the National Supply Chain.
In this workshop took part, in particular, apart from the General Director of National Defence Policy and International Relations, Dr. Konstantinos P. Balomenos, the President of the National Council, Professor Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos, the Secretary of the Council and Deputy Head of Department of the Ministry of Development and Investment Mrs Alexandra Nassou, as well as Mrs Georgia Koumaniotis,, acting in the Council as Secretary-General for Ports, Port Policy and Maritime Investment of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy.
Then the General Director Dr. Konstantinos P. Balomenos participated online in the monthly meeting of the National Council for the Development and Competitiveness of the Supply Chain, where he was the main rapporteur delivering a lecture on: “The resilience of the supply chain in times of crisis and war”.
As part of his lecture, Dr. Konstantinos P. Balomenos referred to the internal and external risks from which the supply chain may be threatened in times of crisis. He also stressed that in crisis situations if a supply chain is to maintain its smooth functioning, it should be characterised by flexibility and resilience in order to be able to adapt to the new circumstances that will arise. Finally, Dr. Konstantinos P. Balomenos pointed out the necessity of adopting the holistic approach to the sustainability of the supply chain in crisis or war management.
At the end of the lecture, there was an interactive discussion with the members of the Council and representatives of institutional bodies where the holistic approach to supply chain operation in times of crisis or war was thoroughly analysed and the need to strengthen the resilience of the national supply chain was made clear.
