The General Director of National Defence Policy and International Relations of the Ministry of National Defence and International Relations, Dr. Konstantinos Balomenos held a working meeting with Lithuania’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Egidijus Meilunas, on Thursday 29 June 2023.

The main topics of the discussions were the preparation of the NATO Summit which will take place on 11 and 12 July in Vilnius, Lithuania, and the examination of the security environment in Europe and especially in the Eastern Europe, as it is shaped by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

In particular, the General Director DGNDPIR and the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Lithuania had the opportunity to exchange views on:

The preparation – progress of work – the desired results of the two countries for the upcoming summit of the Alliance.

The common security challenges and threats faced by the two countries, such as the instrumentalisation of migration.

Ways to deepen bilateral relations in areas of common interest.

In conclusion, both sides highlighted the exceptional bilateral level of Greek-Lithuanian cooperation in all areas, particularly in the context of NATO and the EU.
