The General Directorate of National Defence Policy and International Relations (GDNDPIR) of the Ministry of National Defence organised, on Thursday 28 November 2024, a Conference on “Western Balkans in the current context of security challenges and threats” in the Athens Armed Forces Officers’ Club.
The aim of the event was to provide information and allow for a fruitful discussion with regard to geopolitical issues that create conditions of instability and security threats, in the Western Balkan region.
H.E., the Minister of National Defence of the Hellenic Republic, Mr Nikolaos-Georgios Dendias, launched the proceedings of the Conference. High-ranking officials, distinguished academics and political analysts from Greece, the Western Balkans, and other countries participated as speakers. The Conference was attended by the Hellenic Armed Forces’ leadership and officers, officials from other Ministries, recognised experts from Greece and abroad, as well as Ambassadors and Defence Attachés of foreign countries in Greece.
The event was crowned with success, presenting the geopolitical situation in the sensitive area of Western Balkans in realistic terms, while offering a useful platform for an exchange of views to address the challenges and threats in the region.
