Colonel Dimitrios DIAMANTARAS was born in Athens, Greece in 1972. He joined the Hellenic Military Academy in 1991, graduated in 1995 and was commissioned as an Armor Officer.
In his military career he had successfully served in a variety of Tank Battalions and as a Staff Officer at the Supreme Military Command of the Interior and Islands, the Hellenic Army General Staff and the Hellenic National Defence General Staff. He also served at Cyprus (Cyprus National Guard).
He was appointed as Head of t he National Defence Policy and Strategic Studies Section, at the General Directorate of National Defence Policy & International Relations (GDNDPIR) of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, in May 2022, while assuming his duties as Director of International Relations, in April 2023.
He graduated successfully from all the Hellenic Armor School s , the US Armor School Basic Course ), at Fort Knox KY USA , in 2001 , as well as, the Hellenic War College, the Supreme Joint War College and the National Defence College.
He also holds a Master’s degree (MA) in International, European and Area Studies in Strategic Security Studies” from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Quality Management and Technology from Hellenic Open University.
Additionally, he attended a supplementary e-learning program on “Natural and Technological Disaster s Management”, at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens He has been awarded with all decorations, commendations and medals provided for his rank.
He speaks English and Turkish .
Colonel Dimitrios DIAMANTARAS is married and has two children.
