On Wednesday, 14 January 2026, the Director-General of the General Directorate of National Defence Policy and International Relations (GDNDPIR) of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, Ambassador a.h. Michel Spinellis, in the context of defence diplomacy and the further strengthening of the strategic partnership between Greece and the United States of America, held a bilateral meeting with Mr David A. Baker, Deputy Assistant Secretary of War of the United States, responsible for European and NATO Affairs.

The discussions focused on the deepening of Greece-USA defence relations and their cooperation within NATO. In addition, the security situation and ongoing geopolitical developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and Ukraine were examined.

Following the conclusion of the meeting, both sides acknowledged the excellent level of defence collaboration between Greece and the United States and reaffirmed their commitment to further enhance it at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
